Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White proudly announced her selection of Battalion Chief Monica Fields for appointment to the position of Deputy Chief of Administration.  Chief Fields will officially begin her service as a member of the Command Staff on Thursday, July 1, 2010 and replaces retiring Deputy Chief of Administration Gary Massetani.

Chief Fields, a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, attended City College of San Francisco and received her Bachelor’s Degree from San Francisco State University.  Prior to serving with the San Francisco Fire Department, Chief Fields served for nine years with the San Francisco Police Department and was awarded the Bronze Medal of Valor.

Hired by the San Francisco Fire Department in 1989, Chief Fields has risen through the ranks and has had the opportunity to serve the Department in many capacities including Firefighter, Incident Support Specialist, Lieutenant, Training Officer, Captain, Battalion Chief and in the Department’s Investigative Services Bureau. 

“Chief Fields is a dedicated member of the San Francisco Fire Department and has made significant contributions throughout her career.  Monica’s various roles and assignments in the SFFD will assist in her transition to Deputy Chief.  I am pleased to have her join the Command Staff and look forward to working with her,” said Chief Hayes-White.
