Instructions for obtaining records documenting Fire Department responses to fires and other non-medical incidents are listed below.

FIRE INCIDENT REPORTS (NFIRS Reports):

Requests for Fire Incident Reports MUST include the ADDRESS of the fire or incident and DATE OF INCIDENT.  In the request, please include where the report should be mailed, faxed or e-mailed with the appropriate contact information, along with a phone number (in case there are questions regarding your request).  There generally is no charge for a single report, however, there will be a charge of $0.10 per page for copies of 10 pages or more.  If charges apply, you will be contacted prior to delivery.  SFFD does not bill for releases of records.

FIRE INVESTIGATION REPORTS:

To inquire whether a Fire Investigation Report has been created regarding the investigation of a particular incident by the Arson Task Force, please contact the Bureau of Fire Investigation.  Please note that records for incidents that are "under investigation" may not be released to the public until the investigation and the corresponding report are finalized.

Once it is confirmed that an investigation occurred, the report has been completed, and the case has been closed, requests may be fulfilled.

FIRE DISPATCH RECORDS (Computer Aided Dispatch - CAD Reports)

Records of 911-Call Dispatches (CAD print-outs and audio recordings) may be obtained by contacting the Department of Emergency Management, Division of Emergency Communications Custodian of Records at (415) 558-3826.
