Assistant Deputy Chief Raemona E. Williams is a native San Franciscan. She attended City College of San Francisco, and graduated from St. Mary’s College of California with a BA in Business Management. She entered the San Francisco Fire Department in 1990, where she soon became an active participant in recruitment and retention, as well as serving on various workgroups and committees. She has participated in many Department-related programs such as “School Read Aloud”, SFFISE, NERT and career fairs, to name a few. She has assisted numerous departments throughout the country as an assessor, and as a grant reviewer for the National Fire Academy. During her career she has moved up the ranks; her appointments have included Training Instructor, Battalion Chief and currently, Director of Training.
As Director of Training, Assistant Deputy Chief Williams oversees all Department training. She is the official Department Safety Officer and works closely with Cal-OSHA. She responds to all incidents where the health and safety of our members may be compromised. Some of her plans include developing training curriculums that not only address current firefighting concerns nationally, but will also take training to the next level for the Fire Academy, Department members, and the community as a whole.
Assistant Deputy Chief Williams brings a wealth of knowledge, skills and enthusiasm to the job and wants to ensure all members are well prepared to respond to the needs of the citizens and visitors of this great City.
