Assistant Deputy Chief Michael J. Morris began his career with the San Francisco Fire Department in 1974, following in the footsteps of his father.
A native San Franciscan, Chief Morris attended Sacred Heart High School, the University of San Francisco and achieved a degree in Fire Science from City College of San Francisco. He is a Certified Chief Officer by the California State Fire Marshal.
Chief Morris has risen through the ranks, holding every position along the way; Firefighter, Incident Support Specialist, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief, Assistant Chief and currently Assistant Deputy Chief of the Airport Division. He has served the Department in various capacities throughout his career, as a Training Officer at the Division of Training, an Incident Commander at San Francisco International Airport and as Chief of the Bureau of Communications. Chief Morris spent a number of years working in one of the busiest Battalions in the Nation, covering Chinatown, North Beach, Fisherman’s Wharf, Union Square and San Francisco’s Financial District.
