This year the Neighborhood Emergency Response Team’s Annual Drill will focus in on setting up Neighborhood Command, performing Neighborhood Assessments and Rescue Skills as well as Communications, in a post-disaster scenario. Since the 1989 Earthquake, over 17,000 people have gone through the San Francisco Fire Department’s FREE Neighborhood Emergency Response Team training classes. NERT classes are offered in every neighborhood of the city. In May, the next series of classes will be starting in Pacific Heights at the CPMC Pacific Campus and also in Ingleside at Lick Wilmerding High School. Diamond Heights and Financial District classes will begin in June. NERT classes can be arranged for groups of employees and special NERT classes are available in Spanish and Cantonese.
