"Every 15 Minutes" Program Staged at Sacred Heart HS - April 14, 2008
Every 15 Minutes is an event designed to dramatically instill teenagers with the potentially dangerous consequences of drinking alcohol. This powerful program will challenge students to think about their personal safety and the responsibility of making mature decisions surrounding alcohol use.
Tuesday, April 15th – Location: Parking lot of Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory at Geary and Cleary. A simulated traffic collision will take place near the school grounds. Rescue workers will treat injured student participants. These students will experience first hand the results of being involved in a tragic, alcohol-related collision. The Medical Examiner will respond to fatalities on the scene, while the injured students will be extricated by SFFD Firefighters and Paramedics using the jaws-of-life. Police Officers will investigate, arrest, and book the student "drunk driver". The entire student body will be witness to this event.
Wednesday, April 16th – Location: Gymnasium of Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory High School. Student body assembly and participating agencies will view a heart-wrenching film of the previous day’s events and the reactions and responses of the families and fellow students of those involved in the simulated drunk-driving accident.
