San Francisco Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT)
Citywide Drill - October 13, 2007
NERT Drill Designed by Neighbors for Neighbors
The final citywide San Francisco Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT) drill of 2007 will be happening this Saturday on October 13th. NERT members from all over San Francisco will convene to put their training into action in this three-hour drill. The drill will take place in several neighborhood staging areas simultaneously. NERT volunteers will practice communications with the SFFD Battalion Chiefs, setting up staging areas, conducting neighborhood assessments, and other essential disaster response skills. Since the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, NERT has trained over 16,000 citizens to assist the San Francisco Fire Department after a severe earthquake or other major disaster by taking care of themselves, their families and their neighbors.
