San Francisco Fire Department to Conduct Regional Mutual Aid Response Exercise
The San Francisco Fire Department is hosting a Regional Exercise at the Treasure Island Training Facility on November 16, 2006. The purpose of this exercise is to test and evaluate Region II Fire Branch Mutual Aid Response to San Francisco, Joint Mutual Aid Operational Area Coordination and Operations, Urban Search and Rescue Operations (USAR) and Communications Interoperability.
The Treasure Island exercise scenario is a response to a Mutual Aid request to a concrete building collapse with people trapped and multiple structure fires on day two of a major earthquake with aftershocks. Approximately 1.5 million pounds of concrete and debris have been brought into the site to support this scenario.
Rescue techniques and state-of-the-art equipment, funded through Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI), will be utilized throughout the day.
Dignitaries from throughout the State of California are expected to attend.
