Assistant Deputy Chief (ADC) Matthew Schwartz, hired with the SFFD in 2000, comes to his role with over 30 years of fire service experience. ADC Schwartz has worked through the ranks including Lieutenant, Captain, and for the last 9 years as Battalion Chief, most recently assigned to Battalion 2.

Throughout his career ADC Schwartz has performed diverse assignments including Medic Units, Engine Companies, Truck Companies, Rescue Squad and Hazmat Battalion. His broad operational and geographic assignments make him well suited to build out the needs of the City and the Fire Department through Capital projects.

ADC Schwartz has served on numerous Department committees and was a long-standing officer of the San Francisco Fire Chiefs Association, most recently as President.
