San Francisco Fire Youth Academy
The San Francisco Fire Youth Academy sponsored by the San Francisco Black Firefighters Association is open to high school youths interested in joining the fire service. Our goal is to teach basic firefighting skills and a general understanding of the fire service while assisting in the development of interpersonal skills.
The Youth Academy meets every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the San Francisco Black Firefighters Association Headquarters, 4936 Third Street, in San Francisco. Some of the firefighting skills taught include:
- Basic Emergency Care
- Fire Prevention
- Forcible Entry
- Scene Safety
- Search and Rescue
- Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus Application
