Request Fire Department Observation of a Fire/Evacuation Drill

The San Francisco Fire Code does not require Fire Department participation in, or observation of, Fire/Evacuation Drills in multi-unit or multi-use buildings. Further, we are not always available to do so. However, as a courtesy, and if available, we will accommodate requests to observe Fire Drills.

Guidelines:

  • If you are planning to sound a Building Fire Alarm, you must first have the ability and knowledge to re-set and return the Fire Alarm Panel to Normal Operation at the conclusion of the Drill.
  • Before sounding a Fire Alarm, please call (415) 558-3268 approximately 10 minutes prior to the Drill to advise the emergency dispatch center.
  • If the Fire Department representative is not present at the time of the scheduled drill, continue with the drill as planned.
  • You will receive confirmation of Fire Department participation approximately 2 weeks prior to the planned Fire Drill.

Please note that all dates are subject to availability. We can only accept requests after 10AM for time of planned fire drill.
