Description
On September 17, 2020, crews were dispatched to a medical emergency at 30 Otis Street. A crane operator had suffered a heart attack while 300 feet in the air. A plan was devised to remove the patient out of the confined cab down several flights of steep ladders across a makeshift wooden ladder bridge onto the roof of 30 Otis, a building that is 25 stories and currently under construction. Capt. McGuire ran the rescue, making sure all members and the victim were in harnesses and attached to safety ropes. The patient was brought to ground safely and was transported to the hospital. This was a high risk operation that required quick thinking and a high level of bravery.
