On Friday, May 19th, 2023, Fire Chief Jeanine Nicholson will administer the Oath of Allegiance and present certificates to our sixteen newest EMTs
“This group of men and women have completed a rigorous 8-week EMS Academy,” said Chief Nicholson. “Some will report to their assignments, marking the beginning of their year-long probationary period, as early as Saturday, May 20th.”
Joining the ranks will be an extremely diverse group of men and women. Amongst the group, many obtained their EMT certification from City College of San Francisco. Six individuals completed the City EMT program and the 9910 Field Internship program with the San Francisco Fire Department. Multiple members have bachelor’s and associate degrees in Fire Science, Psychology, Public Health, Journalism, Communications, Sociology, and Business. There is also a member who is an army reservist, multiple members who are San Francisco Fire Department Reservists, and an Eagle Scout. As a group, they have experience in several walks of life, including participating in the College Track San Francisco program, speaking foreign languages, catering, coaching high school sports, being a fitness instructor, and being a wrestler. These dedicated men and women are beginning a rewarding career with San Francisco’s finest. It will be a proud celebration for the new members, their families, and the San Francisco Fire Department.
