K9-Marley, Facility Canine
Marley is a facility dog with hundreds of hours of expert training in specialty commands in various work settings. Marley’s professional partner, Katherine Alba, is trained to guide Marley in obedience skills under distraction, showcasing the dog’s calm and polite demeanor in different situations with everyone Marley meets.
Marley’s job is to help firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, and other first responders unwind and destress from their job demands as first responders. When Marley’s vest snaps on, he is a working dog undertaking a vital role.
The 16-month-old Red Fox Labrador Retriever was trained by world competitor David Greene, who has represented the USA on four world teams placing third in the World Championships and third in the World Cup.
Performance K9 Training and Thor’s Hope Foundation donated Marley to the SFFD in 2021. The Facility Canine teams will be supported by the National First Responders Fund (NFRF) for daily needs over the next several years, including food, toys, and equipment.
