K9-Reva, Search and Rescue
Reva is a Live Find Disaster Canine and is FEMA certified with her handler Garreth Miller. She is prepared to search collapsed structures and locate live people trapped in the rubble so they can be rescued.
Reva was raised with a different name in an apartment in Utah, and her former owners did not anticipate her energy and size. They made the decision to surrender her. A recruiter for the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation evaluated Reva, and she traveled to their facility in Southern California. Initially,Reva’s tremendous toy drive caused her to be overstimulated, and she could not process her training. Search Dog Foundation trainers were able to balance her drive and help her learn how to learn. During her training, Reva was given her name to honor anSDF staff member who lost her battle with cancer. Reva has boundless energy, loves every opportunity to train and play, and has a small mischievous streak. She and her handler are ready to respond to emergencies in the City and County of San Francisco and throughout the state and nation as part of FEMA Urban Search and Rescue California Task Force 3.
