Deputy Chief of Administration Sayumi Brannan brings over 27 years of dedicated service to the San Francisco Fire Department, where she has held various roles across the city. A proud Japanese American, born to immigrant parents, Brannan moved to San Francisco in 1992 and has since made a lasting impact on the community. Before joining SFFD on December 1, 1997, she worked as a preschool teacher at the Telegraph Hill neighborhood center, supporting Chinese families in the community.

With a decade-long tenure at Station 13, Brannan responded to countless calls in Chinatown, fostering strong relationships with residents and businesses. Her extensive experience has prepared her to lead with compassion and strategic vision. As Deputy Chief of Administration, effective January 21, 2025, Brannan oversees department administrative operations, leveraging her unique blend of community engagement and fire service expertise to drive excellence in emergency response and public safety.
