Subpoena Services
The Fire Department accepts subpoenas for records and appearances related to official Fire Department business ONLY.
Subpoenas concerning personal matters will NOT be accepted.
All subpoenas must be served as per the California Evidence Code and will NOT be accepted through mail or electronic delivery.

All subpoenas regarding a fire or medical incident that request a Fire Department member to appear at a legal hearing, deposition, trial, or other oral testimony MUST be hand-delivered AND include a $275 fee by check made payable to San Francisco Fire Department.
For criminal subpoenas, a fee is not required.

Please include information on which SFFD incident is associated with the court case (e.g., SFFD Incident Number, or date and address of incident).
To ensure efficient service, please call ahead to arrange a drop-off time or for questions, contact the Bureau of Fire Investigation.
Subpoenas received incomplete or without payment may be subject to denial.

Subpoenas requesting records in response to a non-medical fire incident, personnel records, or business records for use as evidence in a court of law MUST be hand-delivered AND include a $15 fee check made payable to San Francisco Fire Department.
For criminal subpoenas, a fee is not required.
